The Open Bottom Top Shelf Famine of the 21st Century

As the availability of porn and erotica on the web exploded in the late 1990s, people in the erotica industry repeatedly said that there was still a market for magazine porn but it would be in specialist magazines: the fetish mags, the just-18 mags, the S&M mags, the Older Women mags, the Ethnic Girls mags.

These mags do stumble on in a fashion, in the few shops that sell top shelf magazines, but one speciality has almost entirely vanished - the bum mag.

Just look below at the variety of magazines available in the nineties, by no means every title available. You can tell by the various text teasers on the covers exactly what niche the magazines were serving.

The Bum mag niche was big enough to have micro-niches within it, not just women showing off their bums but magazines specialising in black girls' bums, plump girls' bums, plump black girls' bums, and so on.

What I find physically attractive and sexy about a woman is a striking face, usually catlike, a small waist and big hips, bottom, and thighs. I'm far more interested in women's anuses than their genitals, and in porn, rather than a woman spreading her legs and holding open her vulva, I would rather see her standing with her back to me, looking over her shoulder while holding apart the cheeks of her bottom to show her anus.

These magazines served the niche market of which I'm a part, but except for the hard to find "Buttm@n" magazine, they no longer exist.
